EQUALITY AND DIVERSITY TRAINING
Complaints Investigators Training
This full-day course is aimed at managers who may be required to investigate complaints of personality conflict, bullying / harassment or misconduct. This course is for managers/recruiters with some knowledge of the recruitment and selection system. It is designed to ensure that equality legislation and best practice are understood and that legal challenges of decisions are less likely. Return to top
Managing diversity / preventing Bullying or Harassment at work
This course is aimed at people with a responsibility for others at work. Serious issues are tackled in a manner that is practical and engaging and the central purpose of the course is to ensure that managers understand the implications of ignoring (or badly handling) workplace conflict. Working together better
This half-day course is for staff/employees and covers most of the issues covered by the above course. This course is essentially about understanding diversity, what the law says and what personal responsibilities each person has for their own behaviour. This is the main thrust and employees are left in no doubt that following the training, they are likely to be held legally responsible for their own actions. Return to top
Dignity at Work Advisors training
This full-day course follows on from either the ‘managing diversity’ or ‘working together’ courses. It is aimed at people who have been asked to act as “dignity at work advisors / harassment advisors” and explores the subject in detail while providing advice on specific issues. Recruitment and Selection skills training
This is a two-day skills course covering all aspects of recruitment and selection. It is aimed at new managers (or recruiters) and ensures they are comfortable with their role on interview panels, that they understand the process and that they understand how legislation impacts on their decisions. Understanding Tribunals
For those organisations unfortunate enough to be facing Tribunal proceedings, this one-day course will help potential witnesses prepare for the experiences in front of them. They will understand the Tribunal system and their role in it and will be more ready for and less frightened of the proceedings. Return to top
Completing an Article 55 Review
This one-day course is aimed at staff who have been given responsibility for completing the organisations Article 55 review and its associated report. Return to top
OTHER TRAINING COURSES
Change management
This course has been designed to help teams manage and deal with changes to their work practices and environment themselves. Among other things, attendees learn about their natural team role using the BELBIN test as well as undertaking change using the KAIZEN principle. The course is based on the belief that employees can take responsibility for their own jobs and have the ability to act as an efficient change management team. Return to top
Appraisal and motivation
A one-day course (aimed at managers) which is full of practical advice (and experiences) and will help delegates deliver appraisal reports / interviews more constructively. The course is based on the belief that appraisal is about motivation and managers have to learn to be motivators. Return to top
Presentation skills training
This course is aimed at anyone in the Organisation who has to present information to groups. It deals with how adults learn as well as presentation skills. Again delivered as a full-day, this course contains all the components that similar two-day courses have however this one-day is very fast paced and doesn’t contain gimmicks. Return to top
Managing difficult people and situations
This course is very popular with supervisors and managers as it gives them an opportunity to learn how to deal with conflict. It uses the Thomas-Kilmann test to help attendees identify the type of people manager they are and therefore the skills they should use in a given situation. They also get to practice what they learn through a number of role-plays. Return to top
Managing sickness absence
Many managers make serious mistakes when managing absence. They unwittingly stray into equality and disability areas and the result is often that the Organisation ends up apologising for the action or even paying out compensation. This one day course is designed to assist managers deal with the issue of sickness absence in a way which influences the culture of the organisation towards better attendance. Managing discipline and grievance
This course is for managers and supervisors and aims to give those attending the tools to deal effectively and legally with discipline and grievance problems. The course focuses on the skills needed to deal with each of these areas as well as the relevant codes of practice and the Organisation’s policies. This half-day or one-day course (depending on requirements) is designed to show how meetings should be used to achieve results and action plans. It also explains the serious business impacts of poorly controlled meetings. The course helps to identify the different types of meetings which should be used in different circumstances and will challenge established norms. Total Productive Maintenance ( 5s of Workplace Organisation)
This 2 day practical course aimed at Supervisors and Operators will commence them on a journey of continuous improvement. The 5s are a systematic and powerful way of developing workplace organisation leading to improvement and standardization of activities. Those attending will examine in detail housekeeping in work and setting locations and limits for storage All delegates will take away copies of the planning charts and audit forms to start their own pilot project. Quick Changeover (SMED)
SMED ( single minute exchange of die) can be applied to almost any change over operation. Using practical hands on examples this 2 day workshop aimed at production, engineering and maintenance staff will provide all the information and skills required to develop and sustain quick change over teams.
